Welcome to the James Rodriguez Campaign
I am James Rodriguez and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your Houston City Council Member for District I. As campaign season is upon us, I’ve made the decision to run for a third term on the Houston City Council and will strive to continue to serve the people of District I.
For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege to serve and work closely with my constituents. I grew up here and graduated from Milby High School. In these tough economic times, we have been able to maintain a priority on public safety and deliver key services that allow our neighborhoods to continue to grow and attract those who wish to reside in our great city.
In February we held the ground breaking for the new East Downtown Soccer Stadium, a project that was a collaborative effort involving the city, county, the Houston Dynamo and Sports Authority that will foster positive economic growth just east of Downtown Houston.
My staff and I are dedicated to serving the community and improving our quality of life. We focus upon the following:
Working with neighborhood leaders for ordinances and laws that preserve our neighborhoods.
Committing the resources necessary in order to have responsive police and fire departments.
Bringing capital improvement projects to the district.
Introducing initiatives for safer neighborhoods and parks.
Promoting development that embraces the expectations of all stakeholders.
Making sure our civic clubs and neighborhood associations continue to have a strong voice at city hall.

This year’s challenges include the implementation of Rebuild Houston, adopting a budget that meets the needs of a vibrant and growing constituency, and redistricting. The Mayor, my fellow colleagues on city council and I will work together to provide what is best for the entire city. My office will continue to tirelessly serve all the residents of District I to make sure they receive the services they deserve.
I hope I can count on your vote in November and I look forward to speaking with you about my candidacy.

James Rodriguez
Houston City Council Member, District I
