The Houston Stonewall Young Democrats held their first ever endorsement meeting last night. What you may not know is that they've only been around for a few months, and already they are endorsing candidates for office! From what I hear, HSYD had one of the most rigorous questionaires for candidates.
Endorsed were:
City Controller: Annise Parker; At-Large #2: Sue Lovell; At-Large #3: Melissa Noriega; At-Large #5: Jolanda Jones; District D: Wanda Adams; District I: James Rodriguez.
It was great meeting and/or seeing Guillermo, Travis, Conrad, and Jorgey. As always, it seems wherever I go I'm running into Nick Hellyar, Jerry Greenspan, and Max Cardenas. My favorite judicial candidate Mike Engelhart was also in attendance. And the Party's GIS/mapping guru, Max Beauregard, was also there, among a nice crowd of folks.
Councilmember Lovell was very impressed with the group, offering her assistance in helping grow the group and prepare them for the 2008 primaries and conventions. That's exactly how we need to build communities of interest!
