Dear Neighbors & Friends:

Good news for the community! Charlton Park Community Center will remain open.

Our Council Member, James Rodriguez, has gone above and beyond to save Charlton Park Community Center. Not only has he been a strong advocate before City Council to emphasize the importance of the Center, he also donated approximately $25,000 of his excess budget to keep the Center open!

The Reveille-Park Place Civic Club is very grateful to Council Member Rodriguez for his successful effort and contribution to keep Charlton Park Community Center open. Our group relies on the use of the park facilities to hold our monthly meetings and other functions, and many other groups and programs rely on the availability of the Center.

Residents of District I, please join us in voicing appreciation to Council Member Rodriguez for his work and contribution to save Charlton Park Community Center, and for all his efforts on behalf of our neighborhoods.

Dear James,

A very special thanks to you and your team for your leadership on the designation of our new historic districts.

We have gotten a number of congratulatory emails from around the country for the designation of Glenbrook Valley as one of the first and largest post World War II locally designated historic districts in the country.

I truly believe that the designation of these important areas will continue revitalization efforts and enhance investment in these neighborhoods.

Most sincerely,

Minnette B. Boesel

Dear Council Member James Rodriguez,

James we met quite a few years ago when you were working with Carol, and I just wanted to drop you a note and say thank you very much foryour work on getting a stricter panhandling ordinance enacted here in Houston.

In my 12 years operating one of the most successful restaurant properties in Downtown, I can assure you this has been needed for over a decade.

It shows great courage to stand and address this issue we as business owners and our customers, residents, and downtown employees face day in and day out. I admire anyone with the guts to recognize that everyone on the streets being harassed constantly from block to block in Downtown, and homelessness are two very separate and distinct problems that our city faces and must be dealt with separately.

I only hope now that the officers on the street are directed to enforce the ordinance with zero tolerance so the goals of your hard work can be achieved.

Sincerely,

David Foreman
